Hens and Chicks (Sempervivum spp.) are adorable and super easy to grow perennial plants, that are hardy from zones 4-9. They are growing only a few inches tall but spread easily from a central mother plant (the hen) that produces babies around her (chicks). They come in variety of colors and forms. In the late summer, you will see very nice butterfly-attracting stalks of flowers. Hens and Chicks is a strong, drought-resistant plant. If grown outdoors, they look really nice in rock gardens, border edges, or vertical gardens. It is also one of the easiest succulents to grow indoors in a sunny location.
