The Calatheas are grown for their spectacular ornamental foliage. They belong to the Maranta plant group and have a number of requirements in common, such as, protection from the direct sun, a need for a high humidity and warmth in winter. But with proper care your wonderful Calathea plant can be a real eye-catcher.
Bright to partly shady; avoid direct sun; warm and humid all year round; protect from drafts.
Keep evenly damp all the time. Raise the humidity level. Fertilize in spring and summer with a liquid form of common houseplant fertilizer. Wipe the leaves with a wet paper towel to remove dust.
